UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and exclusion, and build resilience so countries can sustain progress. As the UN’s development agency, UNDP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Development Dialogues is a UNDP initiative that is running during March to June 2021. It is about rethinking how we deal with crises, and to general development needs. 

COVID-19 exposed humanity’s vulnerability. For people already living in crisis, the pandemic has compounded existing vulnerabilities, making it even harder to survive and thrive.

In the face of this development emergency, business as usual in crisis contexts is just not enough. Bold new approaches are needed if we are to achieve Agenda 2030.

The social, economic, and political decisions that determine exposure and vulnerability to natural hazards play a key role in the configuration of disaster and climate risks, providing entry points for UNDP’s work on Disaster & Climate Risk Governance.
